Introduction

This private South Coast adventure takes you to the absolute best sights along Iceland’s most dramatic shoreline — and there’s a reason this region has been a favorite among locals for centuries. Here, nature feels bigger, wilder, and more alive. Thundering waterfalls plunge from ancient sea cliffs, glaciers spill down from volcanic highlands, and the Atlantic crashes against black volcanic sands shaped by fire and ice. Traveling privately means flexibility, comfort, and the ability to experience each stop at your own pace with your dedicated local guide.

Feel the raw power of Skógafoss, where mist rises high above a 60-meter cascade. Walk behind the shimmering curtain of Seljalandsfoss for a truly unique perspective few destinations in the world can offer.

Continue toward the coast where the landscape turns dramatic and elemental. Step onto the striking black sands of Reynisfjara, ranked 9th in Europe and 23rd worldwide by TripAdvisor in 2025. Watch powerful waves roll in from the North Atlantic as basalt columns rise like natural cathedral walls and sea stacks stand guard offshore. Nearby, you’ll stand face-to-face with a glacier — a powerful reminder of Iceland’s ever-changing terrain.

This is more than a sightseeing tour — it’s a curated journey through Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders, experienced privately, comfortably, and without compromise.

Tour Itinerary

South Coast Adventure Private Day Tour

South Coast Highlights, explored your way

We start the day with pickup in Reykjavík, heading south through the Hellisheiði Geothermal Area towards the charming town of Hvolsvöllur, where we take a short break before continuing towards Sólheimajökull glacier outlet.

We will experience the stunning Sólheimajökull Glacier, a captivation branch of the vasty Mýrdalsjökull Glacier.

Watch as centuries of glacial retreat have carved a dramatic landscape, complete with a serene lake dotted with icebergs at its base. Nearby, the mighty Katla volcano stands as a powerful reminder of Iceland’s volcanic heritage, its restless energy having shaped the land over millennia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Iceland’s frozen landscapes up close. To customize your adventure, you can choose to add a guided glacier hike on Sólheimajökull (additional fees apply).

Scenic Stops Along the South Coast

  • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach – A dramatic black sand beach with towering basalt columns and roaring Atlantic waves.
  • Vík Village – A charming coastal town where you’ll have the option to grab lunch and take in the view of Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the ocean.
  • Skógafoss Waterfall – One of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls, cascading 60 meters (197 feet) from the cliffs above. Climb the stairs to the top for a breathtaking view!
  • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall – A stunning waterfall where you can walk behind the cascading water for an unforgettable experience.

After a full day of adventure, we make our way back to Reykjavík, arriving in the evening with unforgettable memories of glaciers, waterfalls, and Iceland’s wild coastline.
